Eighteen
Babes on Bikes participated in the Sea Gull Century 2000. Sixteen rode the 100 miler, and two rode the metric
century (63 miles). All finished with energy to spare!
(meaning
we could make it to the beer garden unaided.)
This is the 12th year for this event and 7,000 people rode, many as
teams zipping along in pace lines. We occasionally tucked into a
pace line, mostly for the benefit of drafting, though one Babe confided
she judiciously drafted only guys with well-formed backsides. (Hey,
gazing at harvested corn fields can hold one's interest for just so
long.)
Dozens of riders hailed us with hearty cheers of "Hey! Way
to go, Babes on Bikes!" We received many compliments on
our jerseys and several folks wanted to know about joining our group or
creating a chapter of their own.

Dennis helped
relieve one Babe's aching neck.
|
Beth's thinking how
she could get Dennis (who's driving by taking the pics) to maybe pull over
every 5 miles to re-tune that neck massage!
