Scott & Jim's Favorite Bike Rides   Check this out!  A new book of 63 rides in the area, complete with cues, map, and elevation profiles for just $20. All profits go to charity.

Escapades  Babe Sandy highly recommends this tour company.  She went on the Maine tour and raves about it.  Mike Gould who owns the company bikes with some of our members as part of another club,  "The Wednesday Irregulars."

Advocacy, rides, lots of good info on cycling and commuting on bicycle.

 

Mountainside Bike Tours  You pedal, we pamper!  Pedal from DC to Pittsburgh and all points in between (334.5 miles)  Bike tour packages along the C&O Canal and the Great Allegheny Passage. (on crushed gravel trails) Weekend getaways up to a full week for groups of 2 to 20.  Babes have no first-hand experience with this group.  Let me know if you try it.

Tour de Chesapeake VIII  (VA)  15/18/34/48/62 miles. Celebrate the arrival of spring with a bike tour through the wonderful, scenic and flat Mathews County backroads along the Chesapeake Bay.     Registration $30/adult. 757-229-0507

20-21 Snow Valley MS 150 Bike Tour (VA)  4 ride options--1 day 60 or 100 miles, 2 day 60 or 100 miles on first day and 40 miles on day 2.  Ride start in Purcellville with overnight at Loudon County Fairgrounds.  Last year the BBMOB (Babes and Babe  Magnets on Bikes) had 40 registered riders and raised over $41,000.  Come join our team

Raise a minimum of $300 and have fun fighting the devastating effects of Multiple Sclerosis while you pedal through scenic countryside to an overnight (optional)  (camp or hotel).  Fully supported.  (60/100/140 mi over 2 days.)  Registration is $40/person unless you are part of a team. 20-21 Ride for the Feast 2006 (MD)  100 mile flat century from Rehoboth Beach, DE - Kent Island, MD on Saturday and 40 miles to Baltimore on Sunday.  $25 registration + $1200 fundraising requirement. Maximum 200 riders.

Raises money to support Moveable Feast's food and nutritional programs for persons living with HIV/AIDS.

All proceeds benefit the Baltimore Women's Housing Coalition which has provided housing and supportive services to homeless women and families in Baltimore since 1979.

30 Inaugural Northern Neck RiverRide (VA)  Come tour this special and unique peninsula located between the Rappahannock and Potomac Rivers with 500 cycling enthusiasts. Double-Metric, English, Metric, Half or Quarter Century along the flat back roads of the Northern Neck RiverRide. $50 includes lunch
30 Blood, Sweat, and Gears Bike Event (VA)  25K, 50K, and 50 mile options.  Out-and-back on the W&OD starting from the Reston YMCA.  In past years, the registration fee has been $35 (including t-shirt, water/snack stops, and a picnic lunch after). The ride benefits the local Hemophilia Association of the Capital Area (as opposed to a national hemophilia group).

TBD Amish Hundred XVI Century  (MD)   25mi-200K  Organized by  Patuxent Area Cycling Enthusiasts (PACE) .  Enjoy the quiet rural charm of St. Mary’s County.  Steeped in history and culture, the Amish area of Southern Maryland is laced with quiet country roads made for cycling.   Pass farms being worked today as they were 200 years ago.  Visit the archaeological exhibits at the Potomac River Museum and the experience the history of the early settlers at St. Cement’s Island and St. Mary’s City.    Followed by country entertainment (parade, food, games, carnival rides, horse pull, even pig races!) at the St. Mary’s County Fair.
