Bunny’s Babes

We ride once a month from March 1 to Nov 30.

The Bunny Babes ride every Monday morning. In the winter our start time is 10 a.m., mileage is <30 miles, and we try to finish by 1:30 p.m.  If the wind is >15 mph with a wind chill of <36 or it rains, sleets or snows, we cancel the ride by 8 a.m. on the day of the ride.  Spring, summer, fall our start time is 9 a.m., our rides are 30 to 60 miles (although we’re going to try to up this to 100 by the end of summer), and depending on the ride we could finish as late as 3 p.m.  If it’s lightning or heavy rain the day of the ride, we cancel.  If it’s misting or a light rain, we go, especially in the summer.  Our starting points vary -Bluemont Park, Dawson Terrace, Vienna Community Center, Reston, Shirlington, Pacific Ave. (I think this is Herndon). Our motto is stolen from THE THREE MUSKETEERS:  All for one and one for all.  By this stolen motto we’re trying to say no one is left behind on our rides; we all stop for the slowest member to catch up and all of us help when we have mechanical problems or a flat tire.  We stop usually half way through our ride for approx 45 minutes to snack and gab and whenever a rider needs a potty break or a water break.

As to speed, we don’t. If one of our rides has an average speed of 11.5 we think we’re flying. I will say this year we’re going to concentrate on our cadence rather than speed but if we increase our speed, we’ll take it.
